Half a century before the dawn of Christianity, the Roman Empire had become the richest nation the world had ever seen. A magnificent sprawling empire founded on principles of power and blood, it was a society where soldiers could rise up from provincial commoners to become national heroes and leaders of the Republic. Costumes and Collectibles is proud to present our magnificent line of replica Roman clothing, body armor and accessories, paying homage to the great empire that once was, when all roads led to Rome.
Clothing in ancient Rome generally comprised a short-sleeved or sleeveless, knee-length tunic for men and boys, and a longer, usually sleeved tunic for women and girls. Clothing, footwear and accoutrements identified gender, status, rank and social class, and determined one's treatment according to Roman etiquette. It offered a means of social control, which was probably most apparent in the segregation of seating tiers at public theatres, games and festivals. Magistrates, priesthoods and the military had their own distinctive and privileged forms of dress.
Gladiator and Officers alike will find authentic clothing at Costumes and Collectibles from our line of high quality costumes from the Roman times.
