The Order of Knights of the Hospital of Saint John of Jerusalem, also known as the Order of Saint John, Order of Hospitallers, Knights Hospitaller, or Hospitallers. These Knights served as one of the most well-known Roman Catholic military orders during the Crusades of the Middle Ages.
This black cotton hooded cape was worn by the Hospitaller Order. It has a white velvet Maltese Cross stitched to the left forearm area. The frog has decorative leather rondels with a snap secure the front and a hood completes the cape.
