In the early 12th century, a French Knight by the name of Hugues de Payens founded a military order whose job was to protect pilgrims. This order was initially called the Poor Knights of the Temple of King Solomon and was later, and more famously, known as the Knights Templar. They were recognized for their strict conduct and fierce reputation as warriors. The Early Templar Knight Statue is a great example of one of the knights of the First Crusade. It shows a knight holding aloft a Templar standard. This amazing statue is made of resin and painted in a rich gold and silver, and stands on a black base. It measures 11.5 inches in height.
